Hauler 1/72 scale Culymeyer Heavy Trailer
Hauler 1/72nd Scale Culemeyer 80 ton Heavy Trailer Review
History
The German firm of Culemeyer manufactured this heavy trailer. Culemeyer, established in 1931, produced heavy trailers for road transportation of railroad and other heavy equipment. During World War II the Wehrmacht and the Reichsbahn used the trailers produced by this company. The two main tractors used for towing were the Kaelble and the Sd Kfz 9 Famo.

Kits Available
Until recently, there were no kits of this trailer. Hauler has now given us a beautiful multimedia kit. They also produce the Culemeyer 40 ton Heavy Trailer. With the recent release of Famos by both Revell of Germany and Trumpeter, we have the perfect towing vehicles also available.

Culemeyer 80 ton Construction Review
The kit is comprised of various trailer subassemblies in resin and a comprehensive photo etch detail set. The modeler must supply plastic rod in both .5 mm and 1 mm diameter. The quality of the resin castings was very good with very few air holes in the resin. Once all the technical sprues were removed from all the resin parts, assembly proceeded. I chose to leave off the all the wheels until after the painting stage. The most tedious part of construction was addition of the plastic rod and photo etch details. Once painting and weathering was complete, I added the load platform, towing assembly and wheels.

Conclusion
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, this kit is perfect. What better way to show of your Famos, Tigers, Panthers, Jagdtigers and Jagdpanthers then with this fantastic new trailer from Hauler.
